My story
Hi! Welcome to Ethel and Joan.
My name is Louise, and I am the owner and maker of Ethel and Joan, an indie handmade haberdashery, offering a arrange of unique, colourful buttons, buckles, earrings and other accessories. All my products are made and finished by hand - my hands in fact - from the moulds to the finished products, and because of the way I make them it means that no two items ever come out the same, like they would from a machine. So each individual item is different from it’s friends, and it is these irregularities that make them unique, and that is part of their charm.
My shop is named after my two Nans - Ethel and Joan - both are very strong characters, but in very different ways. Let’s just say one of them has vodka as their favourite drink, and the other likes tea! That's why they are the perfect namesake for my shop, as I like to make and sell products full of character.
I never make or sell anything that I wouldn’t buy myself. So, when I’m coming up with a new products or colourways I design with a friend in mind. The best example of this is with my earrings all the different styles have a woman’s name because I have named them after the friend that inspired it.
I hope you enjoy shopping for and browsing my products - thank you for supporting my small business.
